IBP - Implementing Best Practices Initiative

Initiated by the World Health Organization and USAID, the Implementing Best Practices Initiative (IBP) focuses on developing and supporting strategies that introduce, adapt and apply evidence-based practices to improve access to and quality of reproductive health care. ExpandNet joined the IBP Initiative as a member in mid-2007.

A Guide for Fostering Change to Scale Up Effective Health Services was produced by produced for the IBP Consortium by the Leadership, Management, and Sustainability (LMS) Project of Management Sciences for Health (MSH).

In addition to the Fostering Change guide, the IBP Initiative has developed a collaborative knowledge sharing tool, the Knowledge Gateway, to improve access to and utilization of evidence-based materials and effective practices to improve reproductive health. This tool allows members to create and manage virtual communities. Communities can create shared libraries of resources, work together to edit documents, conduct threaded discussions online and through e-mail, schedule web-based meetings, and create shared contacts lists. To participate in the Knowledge Gateway, follow the instructions.

An 2006 APHA session with abstracts about the IBP initiative is available.
